July 27-29 - Hope, BC
Well, what a difference a day makes. We awoke this morning to clear blue skies. But it is time to say goodbye to Merritt; 4 days went by so quickly.

We left Claybanks RV Park and turned left onto Hwy 8 which will take us to Spences Bridge just at the north end of the Fraser canyon on Hwy 1. The scenery along the way was spectacular. We had to stop where crews were doing some scaling so I snapped a picture.

We arrived at the junction of Hyws 8 & 1 a short while later and turned north for a short distance to Spences Bridge. Coffee was just around the corner.
After a delightful break, we headed south on Hwy 1. Heading towards Lytton, Hwy 1 runs alongside of the North Thompson river.
Just north of Hope, BC we pulled off at the Lake of the Woods rest area for a cuppa.
Not far to go now to our resting place tonight. We drove through Hope and 4 miles east pulled into Wild Rose RV Park.To our surprise we pulled alongside a white Dodge Grand Caravan pulling a T@B travel trailer that we both recognized. Turns out we first said a brief "Hello" in Dawson Creek over a month ago, altho until today we had not actually met.

This evening, on my nightly walk with Mattie, I stopped by Jean's trailer to give her one of our cards. She reciprocated and gave me one of hers. If and when we ever get to Yakima, we will look her up. Such are the nice people one meets on the road! Safe travels, Jean.

We're here for 3 days, so after a couple of chores in the morning, we'll be off exploring yet another town that in previous years we have just driven through on our way to our destination.  I'm looking forward to exploring the Quintette Tunnels on the old Kettle Valley rail line sometime in the next couple of days.

More later.

But talk about a small world....to be checking in at the same time at the same RV park! Needless to say I did introduce myself today. Judy, the Park owner who was checking Jean in suggested I was stalking her. We had a good laugh and chatted at length. Jen came into the office and we continued chatting outside in the sunshine. What a nice lady and brave lady travelling all the way to Alaska from her home in Washington state by herself.
