We awoke to a howling gale this morning. The weather app on my phone indicated gusts to 40 kph, but the wind was incredible. I had to check another weather source - aha, a WIND WARNING. The wind was blowing like the clappers. If you look closely at the video below you can see the floating homes moving around quite a bit.

Saturday April 6                         Gale in the a.m., then sun and cloud                                          Victoria, BC
We'd arranged to meet Donna for breakfast at Nourish, a small restaurant just a few doors from her hotel. We had to wait a little while as the place is quite popular. Unfortunately the noise level, from tables around us, was quite loud. It seemed everyone was trying to be heard, talking louder and louder. Not very pleasant; that part was disappointing.

But the locally sourced meals were really quite good. We wouldn't want a steady diet but it was nice for a change.
Jen: Pancakes

Me: "Normal" breakfast (the seedy things are toast!)

Donna: Eggs Benny gone nuts.
After breakfast, Donna & Jen walked to the BC Museum while I drove the van to a closer parking spot.
We began our tour of the museum on the 2nd floor - Natural History. There were many large exhibits like this Mastadon, Elk, and black bear.
One of the more interesting exhibits was a Tidal Pool. As we were told by the guide, the creatures in the pool were essentially from across the street in the harbour.

This Hermit Crab was about the biggest I've ever seen. Unfortunately the overhead lights were in the wrong place, but in this picture he/she was almost entirely OUT of the shell. Quite a large creature.
Here the guide is pointing out a creature of interest.
The exhibits were extremely well done.
Continuing our visit, we headed to the 3rd floor where there were many First Nations displays.
There were many models.
If you have an opportunity to visit the capital city, you should plan to spend at least one day at the Royal BC Museum.

For dinner tonight we had decided on Italian. I anticipated a problem with parking as the restaurant we had selected was in downtown. Having dropped by a day earlier, I knew parking could be a problem.

Anyway, before we left to meet up with Donna, Jen did a bit of research and suggested the James Bay Inn pub. And Donna agreed.

With a fritzy GPS, we eventually found the JBI. The pub was a pub which looked interesting but after this morning's noisy breakfast, I suggested the quieter restaurant.

Well, it's time to head to the IMAX theatre at the museum. We watched IMAX films in 3DGreat Bear Rain Forest & Volcanoes. They were both excellent.
While the restaurant felt a little like stepping back in time (check out the wall decor on the left - Art Deco anyone?), the meal was delicious. The ladies had the Salmon special and it looked really good.

I think Jen and I might return to the JBI before we leave Victoria on the 15th.
