Friday May 3 - Sunday May 5                                Warming up nicely!!                                       Enderby, BC
Dave left early this morning so after we hooked up the rig, we enjoyed coffee with the lady of the house. Jan is such a delight; we both really enjoy her company.
After coffee, it was time to head out.

The plan today is to drive to Kamloops then turn east on Hwy 1 and arrive at Quaaout Lodge by 1300. We are meeting
our old friends Ron & Linda there for lunch.

You may remember a couple of years ago we drove this same route through the fire-ravaged area around Barriere, BC.
After some pleasant conversation and some delicious Beef & Potato soup (with Bannock), we said goodbye to Ron & Linda and continued our journey to Enderby.

We arrived shortly before 1700. It was really nice to see Gary again and to meet his daughter Deana for the first time. We hit it off like a house on fire. This is going to be a fun weekend!

Jen and I both thought this was a pretty tulip growing at the front of Gary's home.

For dinner, chef Gary had prepared porkchops in mushroom gravy, rice, and a tossed salad. Mmmm, absolutely delicious. For dessert: cake, fruit, and whipped cream.

We chatted over dinner and well on into the evening. It was close to 2300 when we said good night. What a pleasant evening.

Saturday morning was sunny. Time to don the shorts! Deana offered
to drive us out to Mabel Lake, a popular tourist area about 20 minutes
further down the road to have a look around.

Unfortunately the restaurant at the golf course was closed for a private function. Back in the car, Deana gave us a tour of Mabel Lake and the RV park there; busy even now at the beginning of May. I can't imagine what this place is like in the middle of summer. It must be bedlam.

Back in Enderby, we decided it was time for a bite. Deana suggested the restaurant at the Howard Johnson hotel.

Three of us ordered the Chicken Souvlaki while Jen had the Quesadilla. Everyone's meal was excellent; hats off to the chef.

We headed back to Gary's. While Jen rested, I got up to date on the news. Around 1600 we found Gary and Deana basking in the afternoon sunshine on the front lawn.

We wandered inside when the sun went down, continuing our conversation. Deana put together some chips and dip which was just enough, after such a large lunch.

We said good night just before 2200 and headed to Ali.

Sunday morning was bright and crisp. It had been cooler overnight than the night before.

Just before 1000 I strolled over to find Gary and Deana sitting on the front lawn in the sunshine. Jen joined us a few minutes later.

Gary put his chef's hat on again and prepared pancakes and sausauges. The pancakes were delicious; I had 4. Even Jen had 3! Gary made them with 2 or 3 grains among other things. So they were very tasty, not like the plain white-flour pancakes. We brought 3 back with us for tomorrow's breakfast.

Deana left just about 1300 and headed to her home in Kelowna.

Later Sunday afternoon, Jen & I drove into Enderby. I took this picture of the Enderby Cliffs. Can you spot the hang glider?
Upon our return, we found Gary and his faithful companion, Molly, in the front yard. Jen and I pulled up a chair.
We solved all the world's problems by tea time. Then it was time for a light dinner. Jen made some of her delicious "veggie" sandwiches. For dessert, we finished off Gary's cake with fruit and whipped cream.

Around 1900 we took our leave of Gary and Molly. Time to retire to Ali and prepare for our drive to Castlegar tomorrow. It will be a long day as we will stop in Summerland to pick up the window for Ali's front door.

We have really enjoyed catching up with Gary and meeting Deana. We're already looking forward to seeing them both again this summer.

That's it for this weekend. Next stop: Castlegar. Join us then.
