Instead of turning right towards the RV parking area we continued down the main street and walked into an area we hadn't been to before (or at least not in a long while). Murals are everywhere in Chemainus.
Friday July 24 - Sunday July 26                                                                                                  Cassidy, BC
Time to move on this morning. Today (Friday) we drive north to Mountainaire RV Park just slightly north and 5 km west of Nanaimo airport. We've never stayed there before; we've booked in for the weekend.

We left Lake Cowichan just before 11 a.m. As check in is after 1 p.m., we thought we'd stop at Chemainus for coffee.

Chemainus is one of our favourite stopping places; they have street RV parking just a block away from the downtown area.

For a change we decided to walk to the coffee shop the other way around the block. What a surprise awaited us.

Walking back to the rig after coffee, we saw this "smoke" bush. Pretty obvious why it is called that.
It's a little close quarters with not much vegetation between the sites. The rig behind us pulled in Friday afternoon. The couple even brought their projector screen with them; I guess they watch movies outside when it's dark?!
Time to continue our drive north. Here we are arriving at Mountainaire RV.
We noticed these two structures in a backyard.
Saturday and we're off to Ladysmith.

It's been a while since we've toured the town. But the first order of business is coffee. We found a coffee shop just off the main drag and enjoyed coffee and a muffin in the café's small side yard.

Notice the concrete block wall. Definitely looks like an apprentice did the work, not a master craftsman!

Continuing along the main street, this little bundle of fur came prancing towards us. We just had to stop and visit.

We found the explanation of the Traveller's Hotel very interesting; we learned something new today!
Walking back along the main street, there are a number of heritage buildings.

The Temperance Hotel hasn't changed much in over one hundred years.
I realized shortly after we left this morning that I had left my tablet (read e-book) in the rig. So we didn't stay long down by the water. Duh, I must remember to take my tablet with me just in case there's an opportunity to stop for a while.

Sunday …a day of rest. We took the short drive back to the Farmer's Market across from the Nanaimo airport and return. We spent the rest of the day relaxing.

Tomorrow we head north, back to Brannen Lake RV. We chose a different site for this visit - far away from the playground.

See you there.

"Michka" is a mini-Husky from an Alberta kennel. Full grown he'll weigh about 30 lbs. Hm, I wonder if mini-Goldens are available? I'll have to check that out!

Well, our walk around town is done so let's go down to the beach.
