July 12-14 - The Hazeltons & Smithers, BC
Insert text here.
We left Stewart in the rain - too bad 'cause I think the Salmon Glacier would have been worth the trip.

Hazelton is a pretty little town but on Sunday, closed up tight. Too bad...we weren't the only ones driving through town looking for a place to stop and have a drink!

On the way back to Hwy 16, I pulled off on this side of the bridge. I figured I would walk to the centre of the bridge and make a video. Yeah right! It was safe to do - there are pedestrian walkways on both sides of the bridge, but the combination of open metal grid decking and the height of the bridge above the river below was enough to make me re-consider. Yeah, buk buk buuuk (that's chicken-speak for no friggin' way!)
By the time we arrived at Meziadian Junction, the rain had stopped and the sun was peaking out from between the clouds.

Hwy 37 continued to roll between the mountains providing some stunning vistas. We arrived at the junction of Hwy 16 and turned east.

We pulled off at the turning for Hazelton and boy were we glad we did. To get to Hazelton, you must drive across one of the highest single-lane suspension bridges in North America.
We had dinner last night with our friends Aidan and Derreck who moved from Lunenburg, NS to Smithers just over a year ago. These guys are moving again! Perhaps not back to NS, but back to Vancouver Island.

We had a lovely meal at Northern Fusion Curry Company. Fortunately for us, they just opened their doors last Saturday. So we had a good feed of Indian food accompanied by some good conversation.

We're off to Prince George tomorrow for a few days.

See you there!
We continued on to Smithers and arrived at Riverside Municipal RV Park right by the river.

We booked in for 2 nights, but because the park wifi is so good, decided to stay an extra night. That's why our blog is basically up-to-date.
Here's Mattie having a good back scratch in camp in Smithers
