Aug 08-14 - Victoria, BC

Well, our friend Donna was supposed to meet us on the 11 a.m. ferry this morning, but she emailed us yesterday to say she was suffering with the flu. That's a shame 'cause we were both looking forward to raising a little hell around Victoria for the weekend.

As it was, we left Burnaby just before 9 a.m. this morning heading for BC Ferries Tsawwassen terminal and our reservation on the 11 a.m. sailing to Victoria. Wow, that new perimeter road from Hwy 1 east of the Port Mann bridge south to Ladner & Tsawwassen worked for us. We arrived in time to catch the 10 o'clock sailing! Even got our reservation fee back as a credit on the sailing!

We decided to blow the budget and have the buffet breakfast - kinda like going to the airline lounge away from the mass of humanity out there beyond the doors. It was not cheap, but the peace and quiet was worth every penny. And the breakfast was excellent. Hats off to BCF!

Other than an appointment Jen has with her specialist this week, I don't know what we are going to get up to - probably suss out a few cafes and coffee shops, and maybe do some sightseeing.

Well, we contacted our young Czech friends, Jarda & Petra, and were invited to their place at Shady Lane Farm in Metchosin, BC. What an absolutely beautiful evening we had with them and their friends, Davide & Roberta from Italy. We ate outside, under cover, on a lovely warm summer's evening, made even lovelier by the absence of bugs - there was not a one. We could have been anywhere on the coast of the Mediterranean. It was just lovely - good friends, good food, what more could anyone want?!

L to R: Jarda, Petra, Roberta, Davide, Jennie, yours truly, and Mattie.
