Oct 08 - Olema, CA
Well, that was one hell of a ride today!

I thought the highway from Leggett over to the coast was interesting, but today's, along the coast heading to Olema was:

  • terrifying,
  • nerve-wracking,
  • exhilerating,
  • tiring,
  • awe-inspiring,
  • frightening,
  • and/or something else.

Pick one. I might pick all of them! There is no way to describe the feeling of driving on a narrow ribbon of asphalt, hundreds of feet up the hillside with no soft shoulder AND no guardrail!
Up and down, back and forth, tight turns, hairpin turns, Hwy 1 has them all!
We left Fort Bragg at 9:30 a.m. this morning and arrived at Olema Campground just about 2:30 p.m. - about 5 hours to cover 140 miles.

We're here for the next 2 days. We head out to San Juan Bautista Saturday morning. We'll be at the Betabel RV Park for a week; hopefully enough time to check out the area. Apparently we've been told that the wifi at Betabel is only good for checking email and searching the web. So I may not be able to update the blog as I have been doing. But I'll keep you posted.

I don't know what we're going to get up to tomorrow. So I'll leave it at that for today.

The views of the ocean have been spectacular. We wouldn't have missed the drive, but I can honestly say,  now that (I hope) the worst is over..... "Been there, Done that" .....fits!
