Oct 11 - San Juan Bautista
We decided to check out San Juan Baustista today. We were told there was a grocery store, among other things, there.

Jen wanted to see the Mission and I'm glad we did. Communion was underway when we stuck our heads in the entrance.

This is a large, very large, fruit growing area. We drove by "Earthbound Organics" processing plant on the way to San Juan. You might know this brand if you buy processed lettuce, spinach, etc. when you shop.
Here's a shot of a very old cactus with fruit. We spoke to a local lady who told us about the fruit. Okay, I'm old, I don't remember. But I do remember her describing Nopales. Here's the recipe.
The temperature was starting to climb so we stopped for an ice cream. Mmmmmm, it was good. We sat inside the shop, in the cool air, so we wouldn't have to rush our delectable treat.

We walked back to the van and said goodbye to San Juan. We followed our GPS to Hwy 101 (the blue route on the map), got to the 101, and almost immediately were moving along at a brisk 5-10 mph due to traffic.

We stopped by the RV park. I had put together a collage of Mattie pictures that I wanted to have printed so we could frame it. USB stick in hand we got back onto the highway and ground our way up towards Gilroy. Two lanes of traffic. Once we got to where the highway opened to 3 lanes away we went.

Off the highway and hang a left and there's the Walmart Supercenter! We needed groceries too but the first stop was the Photo Centre.

Less than an hour later, print in hand, and groceries in the van we headed back to the RV park. Traffic was very light going south. A pleasant change!

Okay, so let's see. Cheap gas here. Well not as cheap as Oregon and other states, but cheaper than at home. And cheap wine. Hey, Tom and Sharral, how are our adoption papers coming along??

Well that's it for today.

Oct 12 - Betabel RV Park

Today, Monday, is forecast to be the hottest day of the week so we decided to stay put.

I went for a short bike ride earlier, then decided to check out the pool. That was all I needed to bare my white bod to - well, fortunately, there was no one else using the pool.

So I did a few laps, enjoyed the cool water, then hit the shower. Ahhhh, that was refreshing.

This afternoon we sat under the shade of a Oleander tree and relaxed.

More tomorrow!
