Apr 26 - Sandpoint, ID
Tomorrow we are going to find some petroglyphs at Treaty Rock in Post Falls and as the sun will be shining again, another jaunt around Coeur d'Alene (to try and take some better pictures).

See you then.

Yesterday we moved 7 miles east to the Blackwell Island RV Resort just across the Spokane River from Coeur d'Alene. This lovely park is right on the river and is very much quieter than where we've been for the last couple of days surrounded on 4 sides by highways and roads.

Over the weekend, the weather for the coming week had been forecast to be cool and cloudy. We decided, because of this, to spend a little more time in and around Coeur d'Alene – it is such a pretty city. So we booked in for a week at Blackwell Island.
Today we headed north to Sandpoint, ID, as I read, a hot-bed of railroad activity. Sandpoint is about 46 miles north on Hwy 95. The sun was shining, the temperature climbing, so off we went. Less than an hour later we arrived in Sandpoint.
We did a quick trip around town, found the Sandpoint depot (Amtrak station), and the City Beach. As it was coffee time, we found a picnic table close to the Beach.
After coffee, it was back into town to have a walk around.
We crossed the road and walked through the Cedar Street Bridge Public Market. We found a few shops and a cafe open.
Something I should have bought:
Continuing our town walk, we found this street art which reminded us of Rick Mercer.
We ventured down towards the water and Sand Creek.
So you might have noticed that I haven't mentioned the railroad activity that we (I) came here for. Well sad to say, there wasn't any. Nary a one anywhere, not even a horn! I didn't count the one train we passed as we headed back to Coeur d'Alene. So that part of the (my) day was somewhat disappointing.

On the way back, we drove through a little historical town called Rathdrum. Actually we toured it twice looking for the "history" of the place. None found, we headed back to the park.

We had a cuppa then I suggested we have a walk around the RV park. We stopped and chatted with Terri, yes she had a small dog that needed a pat on the head. We continued our walk around the perimeter road and stopped at the beach, just a short distance from our site.
