May 18 - Oshkosh, B'Gosh!
After a totally relaxing day yesterday – I did all of 6 miles getting some groceries – we left La Crosse this morning and heading for Oshkosh.
Our GPS got us back to I90, but there was a major road works in progress, so after heading in the wrong direction, we did a 180 under I90 and headed in the right (east) direction.
Wisconsin is definitely pretty country – rolling, wooded hills and fields.

We stopped in Ormo for lunch, in a park on an island right on the river – a lovely spot in the sunshine. We'd passed a street sign for the Carter Memorial Library as we came into town, so I thought I'd check my BlackBerry. Nice, I easily connected to the library's wifi and got some emails sent.
While Jen made lunch I took a walk and found this touching memorial.
Five branches of the US military: Navy, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marines are represented on 5 walls. On the inside, inscribed are the names of Ormo residents who fought and returned home and those who did not. You can read more about the memorial here.

We continued onto Oshkosh and found the Hickory Oaks Campground just north of the city. We're here for one night, then off to the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay in the morning. We plan to end our day in Rapid River, MI.
