Jun 20 - Perth, ON
Yesterday Mary took Jen and I to Perth, to tour Mary's home town and then grab a bite of dinner. The weather was hot again, but the a/c in the car kept us all cool.

We drove to the "Crystal Palace" (where the farmers' market is held during the summer) and saw a representation of a mammoth cheese that was sent to the 1893 World's Fair.

After a nice, and somewhat expensive, dinner, we
headed back to Mary's place. This is the first time Jen
had seen Mary's apartment. I left the two ladies
chatting and walked back to Ali – 15 minutes.

It was dark by the time Mary dropped Jen off. They'd had a good chat sans moi.

So to today….today is moving day. We are heading to the St Lawrence river, but first we wanted to re-visit Perth. It is a really pretty little town. See for yourself.

This looks like fun!
Perth is the home town of Ian Millar, the equestrian, who with Big Ben, won many Grands Prix and World Cup Finals.
Right across the street from Big Ben's statue is an old mill, part of which is a café, so in we went.
You can see in this picture how the Tay Canal links Perth to the Rideau Canal. Jen and I really liked Perth. We both said we could live here, hah, but then there's winter-time. Not an option.
We arrived at Riverside-Cedar campground, run by the St Lawrence Parks Commission just around 2 p.m. These guys offer a 33% discount for old fart campers! Such a deal and we also received 2 free tickets to Upper Canada Village just down the highway. We're going there tomorrow – the weather is supposed to cool down to 24C tomorrow. It was so hot today we broke down and turned on the a/c in the van. Phew!

Late in the afternoon, the clouds rolled in. You could tell by the look of them that something was happening. Then as darkness approached, the lightning show and thunder began. We got a little bit of rain but not much.

So we are here for 3 days. Then we head into the Eastern Townships of Quebec. If only I can find a way across the
St. Lawrence without having to go too close to Montreal!
