Jun 23 - Back to Quebec & Venise-de-Quebec
We left the campground this morning and headed east along Hwy 2. We drove out the Long Sault Parkway again - it is such a pretty drive. (We drove east, which is right to left on the diagram below)

We did fine until we got to Cornwall. We didn't see ANY Hwy 2 signs, so after almost crossing the bridge to the US and a couple of other "detours", I programmed Maud for the 401 and off we went.

We stopped at the Info Centre when we crossed the Quebec border. Armed with instructions and bag full of maps, tourist booklets, etc. we got back on the 401 for a few miles.

At the designated exit, we did! We crossed over the St. Lawrence River and headed right into downtown Salaberry-de-Valleyfield traffic. The main drag has a speed limit of 70 kmh AND traffic lights at every intersection for about 7 blocks!! Great city planning!

You might know Salaberry-de-Valleyfield if you've ever watched an unlimited hydroplane race. Valleyfield is one of the stops on the circuit.
We continued along the highway until we hit Richilieu River. The "drawbridge" was up. We pulled into the small park and had lunch. By the time the ocean going freighter had passed through the bridge, lunch was done and we were on our way again.
Neither of us realized that we were going to be running into the top portion of Lake Champlain at Venise-en-Quebec. What a lovely spot. We pulled into one of the many campgrounds along the north shore of the lake and got the last available spot. We're here for one night then tomorrow we continue our journey further into the eastern townships.

See you there!
