Jul 13 - To Eastern PEI
Today is moving day. We're off to Brudenell
River Provincial Park at the other end of PEI.

After I finished getting the rig ready, I
wandered over to give my Dutch friend our
card. We started chatting and I introduced
myself. Andrew, and his wife, Anna are from
the Netherlands. They spend 6 months at
home and 6 months visiting Canada.

I excused myself to see if Jen, who was waiting in Alfie wanted to join us. Next thing I knew, Andrew and Anna were right behind. I made the introductions and we all got along like a house on fire. Andrew was a baker for 44 years. Anna was a college instructor. We had to leave but promised to stay in touch.
I couldn't pass up the opportunity to venture into Summerside and Samel's for a coffee break. Here's the harbour – what a beautiful morning.

PS: The other day on the beach we each found a heart-shaped stone. Who's is whose?
The rest of the trip was uneventful and we arrived at the park around 2 pm.

But the absolute highlight of the day was meeting Robin & Lawrence, the biker guy and his chick, who are riding their Honda GoldWing motorcycle across Canada. They're "neighbours" from Nanoose Bay, BC. Our mutual friend (our old neighbour) Colin put us in touch and we've been playing cat and mouse for the last couple of weeks.

But finally yesterday much to our delight we had a text that asked where we were and as it turned out they were right in the our neighbourhood, so they popped on by. What a neat couple and what an adventure. As I've mentioned, some of the roads in NB were atrocious. We turned around a couple of times. L & R found the same thing, probably more pronounced on 2 wheels. And some of the roads on PEI aren't that much better. Can't be too much fun sometimes.

We had a lovely visit. Then they headed back to Summerside. Jen and I hope we can meet up with Lawrence and Robin down the road. But definitely when we return to the Island in a few months.

Tomorrow we're going to check out the Elmira Train Museum. Okay I saw those eyeballs roll! I'll keep my train comments to a minimum, how's that?!

See you tomorrow.

We took the "back" roads across the Island and surprisingly it was very hilly. It seemed like we were driving over the "spine" of the Island. The picture doesn't do it justice but perhaps you can imagine the ride. A few of the hills were quite steep; I was surprised. I did not expect such undulations! Alfie didn't struggle, but did slow down somewhat on them.
