Aug 17 - To York, PA
We visited the PenDOT Information Centre again this morning.
We hoped the staff could book us a campground in and around
the Gettysburg area. I did a bit of research on the web and found
one just west of York, PA, about 30 miles east of Gettysburg.

We spoke with John at the IC. He called the Ben Franklin
Campground for us and got us a reservation for the next 2 days.
Great, now we can take our time getting there.

Talking about getting somewhere….anywhere around the
eastern seaboard, we've quickly realized that the Interstate highway system is really the way to go. It may not be as fast as one might like – we've averaged about 40 mph over the last two days, but it sure beats sitting in traffic, waiting for yet another traffic light to turn green so that you can crawl to the next red one.

Having said that, when we left the IC, we headed down Hwy 209 through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area toward the Interstate.

The countryside is certainly pretty around here.
Passing through the small town of Reistville we saw this.
Then it was stop-and-go through York. Finally we arrived at the campground. The temperature today was 34C but the humidity was high. We were comfortable when we arrived, but after getting things organized, I was a sweaty heap. Sure is nice to have our shower in Ali!

We're here for two nights. I think we might do some local sightseeing tomorrow and visit Gettysburg on Friday on our way to Bethesda. We'll see in the morning.

Just before we got to York, PA, we drove over the Susquehanna River.
