Aug 8 - Back in the USA
WIt tried to rain last night but it didn't amount to much. This morning we packed up and took our last ferry crossing across the St John river. We're heading into Maine today.

After arranging for med insurance for the next 2 months, we headed for the border crossing in downtown St Stephen, NB.

We don't have a campground reserved for tonight, so as we drove back to, and down Hwy 1, we kept our eyes open for a suitable campground. We went into one and straight back out – no one around, no indication of cost, and cash or check only.

Then I saw a sign for a municipal campground. Well wasn't that special?! We finally arrived at the campground and drove down between a few campsites (no services) to a dead end! Uh oh! Well I backed up a couple of sites and into a vacant one. Jen got out and helped. The site wasn't large and there were trees everywhere. A couple of tight moves back and forth and we were free and headed in the right direction – out of the park! I won't do that again in a hurry!

We decided to find a park in our guidebook and call ahead. We booked into Moutainview RV Park in East Sullivan. ME, about 30+ miles from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We're going to visit there tomorrow.

See you then.

This is the eastern-most point in the USA.
That's Grand Manan island in the distance.
We walked to the edge of the cliff overlooking the water.
Half in, half-out. Sitting in the line up at US Customs. Of course, the customs officer inquired as to why we had a visa. I guess we will have to explain our reasons why each time, I dunno.

We drove Hwy 1 from Calais along the coast. At Whiting, we turned left and drove out Hwy 189 towards the Quoddy Head State Park. We could not be this close to the easternmost point in the US and not go take a look!

Along the way, we saw this sign.

After a couple of turns, we were at the park.
