Sep 15 - It's All Downhill From Here
South of Clinton, we're into farming country – green on one side of the road and brown on the other.
Today is going to be an interesting day. The drive from 100 Mile to Hope, our destination for the day, is one of my favourite drives. The scenery changes almost every mile along the way.

As we descended into Clinton (3,000', 900m), the scenery began to change.

Continuing our drive south, the highway descends right to the edge of the Thompson. Notice the colour of the water.
We pulled off the highway for a coffee.
For the train lovers out there, here's CP on one side and CN on the other.
Continuing our descent, we were getting closer to the Thompson River.
It was cool overnight again – thank goodness for our heater! We awoke to sunny skies again. Boy, we have been lucky with the weather on this trip!

After a morning coffee with Colin & Mary, it was time to roll. We headed into 100 Mile House, stopped in at the free sani-station (thank you 100 Mile!), then headed south.

100 Mile House is in the south Cariboo region of BC. It sits on a high plateau at 3, 041', 579m elevation. It is literally all downhill from here. Well, it is, once we crest Begbie summit a few miles south (4,004' 1,232 m).

There are 7 tunnels between Boston Bar and Yale.  The scenery is spectacular, well it really has been the entire day.

We arrived at Hope, BC mid-afternoon and drove to our campground for the next two nights.

Saturday morning, we head west to the lower mainland and the BC Ferries terminal in West Vancouver for our ocean cruise to Vancouver Island. See you then.

Quite a dramatic meeting!

On to Boston Bar and south, we are now in the Fraser Canyon.

We continued past Lytton where the cold clear blue waters of the Thompson meet the mighty muddy Fraser. Here's a picture I took last year on our way to Whitehorse.
