Monday Jun 24                                         Cloudy, cool, and rain                                     To Crawford Bay, BC
The rain was on and off this morning as we got ready to venture up Hwy 3a along the eastern shore of Kootenay Lake. We're off the Crawford Bay today to spend a week exploring what the artisans there have to offer. Oh, and we'll probably find a coffee shop or bakery or both to savour a morning treat.

We've really enjoyed our two weeks exploring Creston. I'm sure there is still lots to see in and around the area. Who knows we may come back.

Hwy 3a twists and turns as it follows the eastern shoreline of Kootenay Lake. It is not a highway that you can make time on, altho it seems some people try.

Just around morning coffee time, we happened upon the one and only rest area on the highway. Turns out it was a small harbour with a boat launch. And wouldn't you know it, even tho the picture below looks foreboding, the sun actually shone as we sat on a bench to savour our coffees.
Hah, the benches are hidden by the sign in the picture above. We'd initially walked to the gazebo overlooking the lake but the wind coming off the lake was quite cool. So we headed for one of the two benches which were more protected from the wind. In the sunshine it was lovely.
Jen was getting back into the rig; I was still outside. Something caught my eye and I looked down the side of Ali and saw this beautiful creature looking at me.
I thought a picture or two might be in order. Of course, I'm still learning about my new "old" phone. The rear camera (selfie mode) has different settings than the front camera. Who knew?!

So I snapped a picture of the two of us and watched the timer count down from 10...9...8... Well I wasn't ready for the first picture and Jen continued to drink her coffee in the last 2 of the 3 pictures the camera was set to take automatically. If all this technology is confusing...
After coffee we continued our trek north. The speed limit dropped to 60kph which was fine by me. There were enough twists and turns to make going any faster foolhardy.

We arrived at Kokanee Chalets & RV Park just after noon. We're here for a week. We'll keep you posted as we visit the artisans of Crawford Bay.
