Wednesday May 8                                               Sunny & warm                                                Castlegar, BC
After relaxing and attending to a few chores yesterday, today it was time to do a little exploring of the area.

Castlegar is situated at the confluence of the Kootenay and Columbia rivers.

The first order of business this morning was coffee. We headed down Hwy 3 and across the bridge to the Common Grounds cafe.

After coffee and a short walk along the plaza we visited the Dollar Tree. I found some small plastic "parts" trays a while ago that turned out to be just what Jen was looking for to store her beading materials. At $1.25 for a container with 10 small bins and 1 large bin, they're a bargain. We cleaned them out of 8 containers.

Next stop was a visit to the Castlegar Library. Jen had read somewhere that if you had
a valid BC library card, you could borrow books just like we do when we are home on
the Island. A small bit of paperwork and Jen had 3 books in hand. This guy was sitting
just outside the library building.
Just a short drive away was the Millennium Park. We had to go have a look.
Our walk took us past this guy.

As we walked along the paved walkway, we couldn't help but notice these pale blue flowers.
We continued our walk along the river.

I'm missing my gym so when we came across this I decided to give it a try.
A little further down the trail we came across this monument to Canada's 150th birthday.
These boards explained the Columbia River Treaty.
The sun was beating down on us so we decided to head back to the RV park. We'll finish this walk another day.

Back at the RV park, we relaxed for the remainder of the afternoon. But soon it was time for dinner. After dinner, we went for a walk. Tonight I remembered to take my phone with me so I was able to take a couple of pictures.
On the way back from the river's edge, a man carrying some fishing gear approached us. Gary has been at the RV park for a couple of years. We chatted for a few minutes, gave him our card, and wished him luck with fishing, his first time this year.

That's about all for today. We'll see you next time.
