Thursday Aug 29                                                      Sunny & hot                                                     Hope, BC
This morning we walked into Hope to the library. The library is not large, but they had the latest book in a series that Jen & I have been reading, so that was good news.

Our island friends, Barry & Lynne, texted me just before noon. They were 5 miles west of Chilliwack heading our direction. Time to head out to meet them at the Owl Street Café.

We arrived about 5 minutes before they did. Hugs all round were in order. And a pat on the head to Molly, their Akita dog.

The café staff were very accommodating. We couldn't bring Molly onto their side patio, but they said if we gave them 5 minutes, they would open the front doors and move a table outside. This was the only area that dogs were allowed.

We got Molly all settled, ordered lunch, and enjoyed some great conversation. Here we are after lunch...
Barry & Lynne left Lynne's car on the Island, so the plan is next May to fly down, pick it up, and spend a couple weeks driving it back to Flin Flon. They asked where we'd be next May. I said we weren't sure, but we'd find a way to connect as the date gets closer.

What a great couple! And to think, if it hadn't been Mattie looking for her treat that Barry always had in his pocket on our morning walk from Beach Acres through Oceanside Resort, we would not have met these two. We are lucky!

More later.
