Sunday Sep 15 - Wednesday Sep 18                                                                                            Sechelt, BC
Sunday

The weather forecast for our week in Sechelt was for rain with the occasional sunny period. So far we have had a lot of rain, but interestingly, when we have wanted to do a bit of touring around, the rain has held off (mostly).

Today was no exception. Jen wanted to finish our walk along the seafront, so after coffee at camp, we headed off. The clouds looked a little foreboding.

At the start of our walk was this structure; Snikett means "narrow path" in and around Yorkshire, UK.
We didn't walk too far before we reached the end. We turned around and walked back to the pier by the bulk loading facility. Today there were 4 "lifeboats" sitting around the structure. We wondered whether they were participating in a drill of some sort.
We thought it was about time for a coffee. We headed for The Daily Roast. Then we continued on to Brickers Cider.
There we sample all six of their ciders on tap.
We got rained on when we left the Daily Roast, but it was more drizzle than rain so we really didn't get too wet.

No sooner had we returned to the RV park than the sun shone through the clouds. Hmmm..

We decided we'd go out later if the sun was still shining.

Later...the sun was still shining, so we drove to the Saltgrass Walk, along the shoreline, near to where the RV park is located.
The pavement is only 400m so out and back didn't take all that long.

As the weather was still working with us, we headed just around the corner to the Sechelt Marsh.
And finally, here is our PSA for today...
Monday

Boy did it ever rain last night! For about an hour, just after 3 a.m., the heavens opened full bore. The rain was heavy and the noise ("tin" roof) was deafening. When the rain finally stopped you could hear a pin drop. It was so quiet.

So after coffee at "home" this morning, the sun broke through the clouds - time to head out.

Jen had a couple of places to visit - a lavender farm and a botanical garden. We headed for the lavender farm first. After a circuitous route getting there, we saw a sign that said "By Appointment Only." Sure wish they had put that on their website!

Okay so next stop, the Sechelt Botanical Garden. Here's an interesting tree...
While we appreciate that the botanical garden is run by volunteers, there really wasn't much of interest to view. Perhaps in the spring with flowers blooming...

Jen suggested we drive north on Hwy 101 to Halfmoon Bay. There's a cafe there.
Well would you look at that, there's a chocolate croissant for me and a brownie for Jen.

We sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed our treats.

We took Redrooffs road, along the coast, back towards Sechelt. We stopped at Sargeants Bay Provincial Park to have a look around.
Tuesday

Another rainy and windy morning. We got out and did a few chores this afternoon.

Tomorrow we head north to Earls Cove for a week. Earls Cove is the southern terminal of the second ferry on the Sunshine Coast. We'll take this ferry next Wednesday when we travel to our final destination - Powell River.

See you next time.
