Wednesday Sep 18 - Friday Sep 20                                                                                         Earls Cove, BC
Well, after what seems like a week of rain, this morning is sunny. That's great as today is the day we move further north up the Sunshine Coast.

We're heading for a small RV park just a short distance from the Earls Cove ferry terminal.

When we drove in the driveway, we were greeted with these signs...

Richard, the park owner, walked towards us as Jen & I were surveying our assigned site. He said we could have the pick of any site but suggested that site #3 was the sunniest. That was fine by us.

Richard told us a little of the history of his property. Originally he had a number of cottages/tiny homes on his 7 acres. Over time, the cottages were moved to other places so he reconfigured the sites as RV sites.

Thursday

Jen suggested we visit Egmont today; it's only 6 km off the highway.

I'd checked to see if there was a coffee shop in Egmont and there was: The Skookumchuck Bakery & Cafe. After driving down the hill towards the harbour and not seeing any sign of the bakery, we stopped at a signboard and noticed the bakery was back up the hill.

Long story short, after turning onto the road to the bakery, we were greeted with a sign saying "Vehicles not Welcome". So we parked Alfie and walked towards the bakery only to see a CLOSED sign. Jeesh, I wish these business owners would update their website (which said the bakery was OPEN!

We drove back down the hill where Jen suggested driving out to the West Coast Wilderness Lodge - there's a restaurant there.

We walked into the restaurant and WOW!!
Coffee was available, but no baked goods, only breakfast. Breakfast, you say, let's have a look.

A few minutes later, armed with fresh coffee, breakfast arrived.
What a beautiful spot and what a great breakfast - I think we might be back before we leave next Wednesday!

On the way back to the RV park, we called Slowcat Harbour Tours. We're booked on a 90 minute harbour tour of Pender Harbour tomorrow afternoon.

See you tomorrow!
Friday

We woke up to cloudy skies this morning; sure hope the weather improves for our 3 p.m. cruise around Pender Harbour.

And guess what? It did!!

By the time we arrived at the boat slip, the sun was shining brightly.

Here are some of the pictures from our 90-minute SloCat cruise...(follow the red line)
My apologies for the quality of the pictures. I had to shoot through the clear vinyl windows on the boat.

Here's an old net shed. Some of these sheds have been reno'd into residences...
All in all, this cruise was a delightful way to spend a sunny afternoon. We highly recommend it!

There are two items of note in Pender Harbour: the number of large residences along the shoreline most all worth $1M and up, and the incredible numbers of boats tied up at the numerous docks. Pender Harbour itself has over 60 kms of coastline; but there doesn't appear much that is available to Joe public.

Our tour guide, Mark, said many of the residences are empty for a lot of the year. He also mentioned that many of the boats never leave the dock. Amazing!
