After last night's crab feast, breakfast was the farthest thing from my mind this morning. Good thing as we were to meet up with friends Barry & Lynne from Errington at the Blackfin Pub today for lunch. The Blackfin is very nice - I think this is the first pub where I've been that had an orchid on the counter in the gents bathroom!

But first I must tell you a story about how I met Barry last year.

Jen and I were staying at Beach Acres resort just across the road from Oceanside Village Resort where Barry works at the "Tim, the tool man Taylor"; he's the maintenance guy. Mattie and I would cruise through Oceanside during our morning walks. I started saying hello to Barry and after a few visits we introduced ourselves.

Barry is the "pied piper" when it comes to the dogs in the local resorts. They ALL know he is good for a cookie. Mattie was NO exception. Here's a picture I took last year - Mattie knew where she would usually find Barry (read: cookie), but in this picture, Barry was nowhere to be seen. (Mattie thinking: "If I look long enough he is bound to see me..")
Feb 28 - Blackfin Pub, Comox, BC
Before we knew it, it was time to leave. We made plans to meet in Victoria next month for lunch.

Barry and Lynne headed out to her aunt and uncle's in Comox and Jen and I were off to the Bulk Barn in Courtenay.

The rain had stopped and the sun was trying hard to shine, so the drive back to Salmon Point was much more enjoyable.

Until next time.

Anyway, back to lunch - lots of great conversation, laughs and good food.

Here's Barry and Lynne:
Needless to say, Barry did appear after I took this photo and Mattie got her cookie.

It rained all night and was still raining when we left for Comox this morning. Here's what it looked like behind us.
What a cute couple, don't you think?! And here's the four of us:
